A user calls and says something other than a blank page is displayed when creating a new Word document. Word documents are based on a template file called Normal.dotm. If this file becomes corrupted or if the use accidently overwrites the Normal.dotm file, something other than a blank page will be displayed when creating a new document. The fix is simple - just delete the Normal.dotm file and Word will automatically create a new one.
- Use Remote Control to connect to the user's PC.
- Close Microsoft Word.
- Press Windows+R to open the Run box.
- Type %appdata%\Microsoft\Templates and click OK.
- Delete the Normal.dotm file.
- Relaunch Microsoft Word.
