Dialing Instructions
Telephones are to be used only for official business calls.
Campus Calls
- Refer to your campus telephone directory for the number.
- Listen for the dial tone.
- Dial the four-digit extension number.
Local Calls (Off Campus)
- Refer to the Buffalo telephone directory for the number.
- Listen for the dial tone.
- Dial "9" or "8" if the line is toll restricted; wait for a second dial tone.
- Dial the local telephone number.
(Note: Local calls are charged based on the length of the call.)
Long-Distance Calls
- Listen for dial tone.
- Dial "9" or "8" if the line is toll restricted; wait for a second dial tone.
- Dial "1" plus area code, plus telephone number.
Campus Directory Assistance
- Listen for the dial tone.
- Dial "4000" for the campus operator.
To transfer a call to a third party:
Depress Switchhook/Recall or Flash Button; listen for special dial tone. Dial third party; listen for ringing phone. Either: Hang up, or wait for an answer; announce that call and hang up. If third number is busy or does not answer, depress Switchhook/Recall or Flash Button twice to be reconnected to original party.
Voice Mail
Access your voicemail from on campus
- Dial x3232
- Enter your password (default password is the last four digits of your telephone number)
- Follow the prompts to listen to your messages
Access your voicemail from off campus
- Dial 878-3232
- Hit # key
- Enter your mailbox number (Your mailbox number is your 10 digit telephone number. Ex. 716878XXXX)
- Enter your password
- Follow the prompts to listen to your messages
