Using the LibGuide Selection Tool in Blackboard
Please note that not all content is fully compatible yet, but we can customize content to work with specific courses as well. Please contact Ken Fujiuchi at fujiuck@buffalostate.edu if you are interested in course customized library content.
- Go to your Blackboard course content section.
- Look for the Tools drop-down and choose LibGuides.
- Give it a name (how it will appear in the list of content) and any other options you would like to set.
- You should now see the content name appear in your list of content (usually at the bottom). Click on the name.
- Select your LibGuides CMS site: library.buffalostate.edu
- Select the type of content you want to embed. Additional options appear based on the type of content you selected. The most common options are:
- Full LibGuide: the entire guide - header through footer - displays in the page.
- LibGuides Site: Choose your site.
- Content-Type: Choose Full LibGuide.
- Guide: Select the guide you want to display when users click the link.
Tip: Use the box at the top to filter the list by guide name! - Guide Page: Optionally, select a landing page for the guide.
Only use this if you want the landing page to be something other than the first page of the guide. - Click Embed Content.
- Single Page: just the one page from a guide, excluding navigation.
- LibGuides Site: Choose your site.
- Content Type: Choose Single Page.
- Guide: Select the guide that contains the page you want to display.
Tip: Use the box at the top to filter the list by guide name! - Guide Page: Select the page you want to display when the link is clicked.
- Click Embed Content.
- Content Item: one box from a guide displays in the page.
- LibGuides Site: Choose your site.
- Content Type: Choose Content Box.
- Guide: Select the guide that contains the box you want to display.
Tip: Use the box at the top to filter the list by guide name! - Guide Page: Select the page that contains the box you want to dipslay.
- Box: Select the box you want to display when the user clicks the link.
- Optionally, check off the box to display the box without the header / border (like a "floating box" in LibGuides).
- Click Embed Content.
- Full LibGuide: the entire guide - header through footer - displays in the page.
