The following instructions allow you to integrate resources from the library website (https://library.buffalostate.edu) within your Brightspace course shell.
- Login to Brightspace (https://mylearning.suny.edu/).
- Navigate to the course content area.
- Find the "Existing Activities" button and choose the "External Learning Tools" option.
- Choose the "Springshare Single-Course Tool - BUC" link from the list. Once you click the link, it will add a new course module a the end of your list of course content.
- Click the down arrow next to the "Springshare Single-Course Tool - BUC" title and select "Edit Properties in Place."
- You can now rename the module by clicking on the "Springshare Single-Course Tool - BUC" and changing the title.
- Check off "Open as External Resource."
- Click the down arrow next to the title and choose "View Topic."
- The first time you view the Springshare module, you will be taken to a Libguide selection page.
- Select your LibGuides site: library.buffalostate.edu
- Select the type of content you want to embed. Additional options appear based on the type of content you selected. The most common options are:
- Full LibGuide: the entire guide - header through footer - displays on the page.
- LibGuides Site: Choose your site.
- Content-Type: Choose Full LibGuide.
- Guide: Select the guide you want to display when users click the link.
Tip: Use the box at the top to filter the list by guide name! - Guide Page: Optionally, select a landing page for the guide.
Only use this if you want the landing page to be something other than the first page of the guide. - Click Embed Content.
- Single Page: just the one page from a guide, excluding navigation.
- LibGuides Site: Choose your site.
- Content-Type: Choose Single Page.
- Guide: Select the guide that contains the page you want to display.
Tip: Use the box at the top to filter the list by guide name! - Guide Page: Select the page you want to display when clicking the link.
- Click Embed Content.
- Content Item: one box from a guide displayed on the page.
- LibGuides Site: Choose your site.
- Content-Type: Choose Content Box.
- Guide: Select the guide that contains the box you want to display.
Tip: Use the box at the top to filter the list by guide name! - Guide Page: Select the page that contains the box you want to display.
- Box: Select the box you want to display when the user clicks the link.
- Optionally, check off the box to display the box without the header/border (like a "floating box" in LibGuides).
- Click Embed Content.
- Full LibGuide: the entire guide - header through footer - displays on the page.
